Irminenschaft
Irminenschaft (or, Irminism) is the embodiment of the
Germanic Heathen expression as it has survived and evolved over the slow
turnings of ages- in short, it is the Heathen-religious expression of those who
hail from bloodlines of Germanic descent. Needless to say, our triuwa (faith,
fidelity) isn't a configuration of a 'retro-Heathen' endeavor, nor is it
retro-Heathenry, proper- but rather, a viable, living approach to ancient custom
(thau) and form as is applicable in our era, and as addresses and serves the
needs of our particular folk. The ethnic Being of Germanic folk is a complex
manifestation- one that exists today as a result of the evolutionary Natural
Order or Cosmic Law (Rita or Ryta) and processes inherent within a living, vital
folk.
Today's Germanen are truly a synthesis of ethnic form- we are the descendents of
the various tribes -Saxons, Goths, Franks, etc.- which have come to compose the
entirety and Being of our evolved Germanic cultural dynamic. As such, we don't
claim to be Saxons, Franks, or any of the other properly autonomous tribes which
make up that ethnicity. Likewise, our interest isn't in the re-establishment of
a single tribal entity, socio-cultic form or Being -this, after all, neglects to
recognize the due place of those other tribal influences which have contributed
to our current ethnicity or Being in true form, as have developed over timeless
generations according to Natural Order. Irminenschaft is firmly rooted in the
thau of our Forebears, it is all that which is truly Real and Immediate, founded
upon the very primal layers and truths which have shaped our Germanic folk since
the dawning of the ages... it is the Heathen expression as it has come to be
made manifest by that Ordering, that which has both survived and thrived openly,
encrypted within other forms, or hidden beneath some thin veneer.
Irminenschaft is the triuwa of those who gather about the foot of the mighty,
Holy column of Irmin- the All-sustaining, All-supporting World Tree which holds
within its boughs and roots all of the realms of Being and Order- in celebration
and honor, in fulfillment of that established commitment and trust to our Gods
and Forebears as was done for countless generations before the coming of the
Christian age. As the eldritch wisdoms of our Germanen Fathers and Mothers tell
us, four roads branch out from that All-enduring column, and it is these same
roads -the paths of the All-pervading Holy Rita: the Natural Cosmic Order- which
rightfully leads us back to the root of our Being, and the source-spring of our
very blood!

The Irminen-Gesellschaft
The Irminen-Gesellschaft is a non-profit organization
dedicated to the preservation and evolution of the Germanic Heathen dynamic (Irminenschaft)
and Germanic culture. The men and women of the Gesellschaft endeavor to achieve
this through research, education, and an active exchange of ideas.
As Irminen, we live our lives according to Thau and in true,
Heathen Law within the Liut or Sippa. As members of the Gesellschaft, we are
firm in our adherence to the basic principles which lie at the very root of our
organized folk.
These include the following:
1. Irminenschaft [Irminism] is the ethnic religious expression and Being of our
German forebears, and that expression as it has survived and thrives today. This
is not to imply nor be mistaken for some form of 'retro-Heathen' approach or
retro-Heathenry, proper, but rather a viable, living approach to ancient custom
and form as is applicable in our era, and as addresses and serves the needs of
our particular folk. Our folk have evolved over the slow turning of millennia,
and so have their needs... re-founding or re-establishing that from which we
have evolved is to counter that holy evolutionary process in losing sight of
what is truly Real and Immediate.
2. Irminenschaft is the embodiment of the ethno-religious
expression of those who hail from lines of German descent, and as such, makes
manifest the very Being of the spiritual and physical essence of Heathen of that
descent. Our perceptions and expressions are borne within the blood of our folk,
and so are uniquely our own: while we reject the negativity of hatred, we
likewise reject the notion of Universalism as well. Each folk-group or culture
has its own Well from which the totality of their respective Being (both
physical and spiritual on all levels) ultimately springs- each should strive to
draw from the Well of their own inherent stock.
3. The rebirth of Irminenschaft is the true rebirth of the
German-Heathen ethnicity, and so is the product of the continuance and
furtherance of the Natural Order as set by the Gods themselves 'before man's
beginning'. We, as Irminen and members of the Irminen-Gesellschaft stand
undaunted in our commitment to preserving and furthering this order as our
Fathers and Mothers have done, and so do so with complete freedom of conscious,
and without apology.
4. We, as Irminen and members of the Irminen-Gesellschaft are
bound by Natural Order and Natural Law, which is both deeply rooted in and the
very foundation of the most fundamental of holy action and existence -the true,
holy Rita of the triune trifidic triad of Arising- Being- Passing Away to New
Arising. We are the product of this evolutionary process, and we are integral to
its continuance. This we strive to achieve on all levels, through Blood and
Being. This is the principle for which we strive on the deepest of spiritual
levels, and is the foundation for our rejection of any form of Universalism or
the counter-evolutionary 'retro-Heathenry'.
5. We are a folk of incessant Dynamism and Action. Our existence as a people is
a direct result of the actions continuously laid within Urdabrunno. Our
evolution is not only the product of, but also dependent on the laying of
actions as inherent within a dynamic Being. Failure to maintain this is failure
in adherence to the Rita of Arising- Being- Passing Away to New Arising, and is
the cessation of evolution itself. We are a folk of dynamic action! The whole of
the Irminen-Gesellschaft and the organic expression of Irminenschaft overall
does not allow nor tolerate idleness or any such failure to act in the adherence
of our most holy Rita!
6. We are a folk of incessant dynamism and action. This carries forth from the
esoteric to the exoteric, in all that which is good for the furtherance of
Irminenschaft, members of the Irminen-Gesellschaft, and general or independent
Irminen on all levels, including the realm of the 'political': we must remain
ever-active in the determination of those policies which directly affect us, our
children, our children's place in Being/Becoming, and the existence of our folk
overall. We cannot sit idly by as those who have little or no regard for our
folk or folk's needs make the policies which will directly affect, further,
hinder, or destroy our very Being in any capacity, including our Natural Right
to true fridu (frith =peace, peace enjoyed in a setting of security or safety),
and so we must be willing to pursue that involvement within our respective
'community at large' and respective governing bodies. We are the citizens of
nations, and cannot isolate ourselves from that fact: We must strive to make an
effective difference on all levels!
7. As members of the Irminen-Gesellschaft, we must maintain the true
manifestation of good for our folk, and those virtues which are both the
foundations and product of that good, including but not limited to:
Courage: We, as Irminen, must be courageous in our endeavor! We must have the
inner strength and conviction that allows us to face the enormity of the task at
hand- we must have the courage to stand by our kin and to keep to holy Rita and
principles. These are the foundations for the furtherance of our triuwa and
Gesellschaft, and we must be unflinching in our courage and unfailing in
furtherance and our evolution: the very sustenance of our Being.
Truth: Courage fosters truth, and truth furthers courage- we must be incessant
in striving for that which is right, what we know to be right, and what we know
to be true. Truth is the underlying principle of holy realization, and
ultimately that which steels us in our courage! Without truth, we have no
fundamental realization on any significant level, nor the courage or will to
achieve and evolve, relegating our very Being to nothing more than a farcical
play.
Honor: Our honor is our worth, without worth, we are nothing. Without honor, we
are doomed to the darkest expanses of Hellaheim; without worth, we do not
further our folk, kin, or ourselves, but instead hold back that evolution for
which Irminenschaft strives. Our deeds attest to our honor, and our works prove
our worth- we must strive to maintain and further our honor and worth as
individuals and as a folk overall. We must strive to be, and ultimately prove to
be worthy of our place beside the Irminsul! Our deeds, both foul and fair
outlive us, and carry the burden or glory of our Beings- we cannot allow
ourselves to accrue the baggage of shame or disgrace that our children and their
children would subsequently bear!
Fidelity: In this 'modern era', courage is the first to falter- courage is what
holds our loyalties to us, what holds them true and keeps those bonds strong.
Our bonds serve as the conduit upon which the magan of our collective
folk-essence travels, the very web that weaves together the tapestry of our
Irminic Folk. We must be unfailing in our loyalties- to our Gods, Ancestors, Sippa (MoHG Sippe), Rita, and folk. Any breach of loyalty is a tear upon the
fabric of the weave, and so threatens the unmaking of the Whole overall. We as a
folk cannot suffer to permit a faltering of fidelity on any level!
Discipline: We grasp and shape our own magan and wurt. This carries forth from
our own personal sphere to that of the Sippa and folk overall. We must have the
discipline that keeps us true to our principles and virtues, and also allows us
to master our resolve and focus. We must remain free of dependencies and those
indulgences that are the nemesis of evolution and Natural Law: that which sows
the seeds of our own or our folk's demise.
Hospitality: We rely on the strengths and love that are forged by blood and
oath...what good are such things when we can't otherwise? We must be ready and
willing to lend help and assistance where we can, when it is needed- what good
are we to those that we are bound if we cannot depend on one another?
Industriousness: We are worthless if we cannot work to advance our children, to
provide better for them in providing the best we can for ourselves...in reaching
for high goals, in striving for perfection in all areas of life, we lay that
example for our children, as they will for their own...laziness in that endeavor
is a true 'sin' and failure to lay rightful layers within the Well, failure to
take action, to work towards that greater evolution in self and spirit in all
areas of our Being is certainly and evil indeed! We must provide for our Sippa
and must work to further our standing in society, which also strengthens it! We
must actively contribute to the sustenance of our household and Sippa, just as
we must actively contribute to the sustenance of our Irminen-Gesellschaft,
Irminic folk overall, and society-at-large in which we live! We cannot simply
'settle' for the mediocre, nor be satisfied in simply surviving- this does
nothing to foster growth and commitment to growth, and does nothing to inspire
our children to work harder or to achieve or evolve!
Self-reliance: Freedom is the essence of all joyous life, to need reliance on
others, or to be bound in thralldom and servitude is worst than death itself! We
cannot be satisfied to let others think for us, nor can we be satisfied to let
others do what is rightfully our own work to do! Only freedom can strengthen our
love for life, and we cannot allow ourselves to be enthralled by need or want,
which in turn enthralls our children and Sippa...
Only freedom furthers freedom!
Perseverance: Perseverance is inherently dynamic in nature, and is essential to
Natural Order. We must actively persevere and preserve our blood and folk. We
must persevere to achieve, and must remain stalwart in our works and
commitments. Only through our dynamic achievement can we truly foster the developments
and evolutionary gains of our Ancestors -furthering the gains of our Fathers and
that of our own generation, while laying a firm foundation upon which our
children (and the countless generations of our lines who will follow) can build
and grow.
